Philly = Cousins, cheese steaks, and our HardRock tradition!

Last Friday we decided to head to Philly to visit Jason's brother Spencer, his wife Linda, and their three kids. We arrived Saturday morning after driving overnight. So after taking some time to rest, the kiddos headed to the park! We spent the rest of the day hanging out and eating Linda's famous sweet and sour chicken... yum!

Sunday: We had a yummy breakfast of pancakes and bacon before we headed to church. We came home and had delicious grilled burgers for dinner then ended the night with a nice walk near a river.
Monday: Time to explore downtown Philly! We got to climb this really neat monument. Olive loved all the fountains and wanted to jump right in (it was about 90 degrees out!).

You cant go to Philly and not try the famous cheese steaks! There are two of the biggest competitors right across the street from each other so we got one of each and split them to compare.

GENO'SPAT'S

And the winner is....HARDROCK! Jason and I have a tradition of going to a new Hard Rock Cafe on every other wedding anniversary. This was our year and since we found out Jason is leaving on our anniversary and will be gone for 6 months, we decided to go to the Philly HardRock Cafe. This will likely be the only time our kiddos will celebrate with us! :) It was great! We had filled up cheese steaks so we had a brownie sundae which was very yummy! Olive loved the crayons and cup they gave her!

7 years!!!
Olive tried the cherry that came on top of our sundae... a few licks later she decided otherwise.
Then we headed back to Downingtown and went to the pool! Olive love love loved it!

Evie gave it a try but wasn't sure what to think!
We had such a great time with our family! It was just what we needed! So grateful we got to spend time with them!

the girl can twirl

So, of course I can never manage to catch the best of it while the film is rolling but Olive is really into twirling. If there is music, she just cant sit still. I love when she is so dizzy she cannot even walk straight (hence the face dive when trying to come towards me in the video!). This little girl is just so much fun to be with!

First popcicle ever! Yummy!

Spring is in the air! We had a really nice evening last week so we decided to head out for an after dinner treat! We gave Olive her first popcicle! She love love loved it! Mmmhmmm!

Little Evie....oh how I love that button-nose!
What IS this?
hmmm...
Olive loved the popcicle and I was so excited to get this shot! She is so much like her papa... walking around with her tongue out! I love it! I love when something as little as a popcicle makes the world such a wonderful place!

Giving cancer the pink slip!

Last Saturday the girls and I did the Race for the Cure Family Fun Walk. Jason was doing an all day canoe clinic with the scouts so luckily the Palmers wanted to join us! It was amazing...something I want to make a family tradition of. It was very emotional and sweet, many survivors sharing how many years they have been in remission and many people with loved ones and friends who had passed away from breast cancer. Cancer is an interesting thing....one day its just there. I was trying to explain to Olive that we were walking to help people who are sick... I hope one day she understands how important it is to stand by and support those who are stricken but such illnesses...and to be grateful for our own health! We had such a great time!

Sweet Evie along for the ride!
Even the local law enforcement showed their support!
Tough enough to care! One entire street was lined with bikers and their bikes...all sportin' pink of some sort!
This was only 1 of 5 races they had....the pink goes on f o r e v e r !
Across the finish line!
My little olive lovin' her gigantic pink balloon!
